Solidarity action for striking textile workers
Since October, hundreds of thousands of garment workers in Bangladesh have been on strike for wages that are enough to live on. The strikers also have to contend with state repression. They are repeatedly attacked by police and paramilitaries, some of whom have been shot dead.
In solidarity with the strikers, we visited the H&M and New Yorker stores in Göttingen yesterday on Black Friday and drew attention to the labor disputes with flyers. Companies like H&M and New Yorker profit from starvation wages in Bangladesh and are partly responsible for the situation on the ground.
The action is part of a campaign by the International Confederation of Labour (ICL), in which we as FAU are organized with trade unions in other countries.
